Selective resin + XRF for gold

SORBEX-Au

A gold-selective workflow that transfers Au from prepared ore material onto SORBEX-Au resin, creating a cleaner and repeatable target for direct XRF measurement.

Workflow

Selective chemistry before measurement.

SORBEX-Au is not positioned as a universal certified assay replacement. It is a practical analytical platform for faster local decisions, supported by reference-lab comparison where required.

1

Prepare

Crush, mill and homogenise the sample to the project protocol.

2

Pretreat and leach

Use thermal pretreatment for sulphide-rich ores, then controlled leaching with ultrasound where appropriate.

3

Capture

Load dissolved gold onto SORBEX-Au resin under defined conditions.

4

Measure

Filter the resin and read it by calibrated XRF with standards and repeatability checks.

University validation

University of Girona verified the Au-loaded resin target.

Independent tests with micro-XRF, EDXRF and ICP-OES confirmed that SORBEX-Au resin can capture gold from solution and produce a measurable XRF response on the loaded resin. This validates the analytical interface that the SORBIONEX platform is built around.

Project samples still require material-specific calibration against reference assays, especially for high-grade ores and sulphide-rich matrices.

Where it fits

Exploration sample screening, drill-core prioritisation, mine-site decision support, residue checks and projects where rapid feedback can guide what should be sent for full reference analysis.

Early validation on sulphide ores and partner samples showed the value of the resin-XRF approach while also making resin capacity and ore-specific calibration visible as practical development parameters.
